Microdermabrasion is meant to help reduce lines, pore size, even skin tone, fade acne scars, age spots and sun damaged skin and give a healthy glow by removing the top layer of skin (basically exfoliating) by using mineral crystals, I came across St Ives elements microdermabrasion and it said it done pretty much some of the things that microdermabrasion home kits offer but for me its all lies as it did the total opposite and made my skin worse.

When using for the first time I found it difficult to remove, it was stuck in my hairline which was hard to rinse out so it looked like I had a dandruff problem! I thought I had managed to get it all off but obviously not because during the day my eyes became sore and kept watering where the little crystals got in to my eyes. It’s easier to remove if used in the shower so I gave it another try and second time round I noticed my pores were clogged up, bigger & more noticeable, I was coming out in pimples and my skin was very dry and looked horrible and dull.

Silly me because I continued to use the scrub as I thought my skin needed to adjust to it as it was different to other scrubs that I’ve used but nothing changed and the more I used it the worse my skin was getting, last time I had a breakout, there was spots everywhere and the skin around them was red for days - I’ve always had pretty good skin and hardly ever have spots so this was disgusting for me! Also I am very careful when applying scrubs but it had scratched the skin around my nose and started to flake and was very sore. This is meant to be gentle enough for everyday use.

Products have never given me this type of reaction before and it doesn’t say on the packaging that it’s not suitable for my skin type (Combination).

I’m really disappointed as I love St Ives other products, I will not be trying this again!
It might be better for other skin types as I had read some pretty good reviews on it but it’s not for me.

The only good thing I have to say about it is that it doesn’t smell.

If I had a choose I wouldn't even give it 1 star!
